About the role
As Commercial Accountant, you will build financial models for extensions, relocations and share sales to understand the financial viability and future performance of practices as they undertake these exciting changes and growth opportunities.
You will be a key business partner to the Partnerships team, Operations team and wider business, translating the operational plans into a robust financial plan and provide insight from variance analysis of previous plans to drive continuous improvement of the planning process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of 10-year business plans for new and existing practices, to include extension plans, new practices and changes in ownership of existing practices
- Ownership of business plan process to include liaising with various departments to gain accurate inputs and updating relevant stakeholders
- Analysis of revenue and costs to update and challenge assumptions used in the financial models to drive continual refinement
- Presentation, alongside the Operational Team, of the completed plan to the Practice Owners
- Assisting the Head of Partnership Finance with projects and ad-hoc analysis as required
- Working with the Treasury team to understand bank loan options for business plans
- Production of post-investment reviews to compare actual performance to business plan at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months post implementation
- Development of new business plan models
About You – What you will bring to the role
- Part qualified/qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Advanced Excel skills are essential, and knowledge of other MS Office applications is required. Modelling experience is desired.
- Effective communicator at all levels, able to communicate complex financial issues in a simple and easy to understand manner to non-financial partners and colleagues
- Ability to work at pace, and have a high level of organisational skills
- The ability to influence and challenge across teams, both within and outside of Finance
- A self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a wider team
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong service ethos and demonstrates vision, values and behaviours of the Vet Group
- Passion for accuracy and drive for improvement
- The ability to own problems to a conclusion
