The Bank’s Central Commercial Team is part of Shared Services, which has responsibility to The Central Services 2025 design

The Bank exists to ensure monetary stability and to contribute to financial stability; the Shared Services Directorate provides the infrastructure and services required to support the Bank’s critical functions.


Department Overview

The Commercial department is responsible for ensuring value-for-money for the Bank and compliance with the procurement policies and regulations and managing third-party risk.

Job description

This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Bank’s Commercial strategy and vision by collaborating with the business areas and members of the wider Commercial team to deliver value-for-money through effective supplier and contract management and supporting the business developed long-term Commercial Strategies for your category of spend

This role is aligned across the business areas; Corporate, Facilities Management and Technology

This role is responsible for:

  • Contract and delivery management of appropriate contracts and suppliers within the commercial landscape
  • Acting as a key point of knowledge and support Commercial Delivery Managers and Commercial Delivery Leads in delivery of improved capability and service
  • Helping improve established supplier relationship management practices
  • Acting as a point of contact and knowledge for the relevant data captured as part of the Commercial Delivery function, for instance consumption of spend against managed Frameworks
  • Reporting against commercial progress across the division
  • Liaising with the business areas to manage the gathering of data, to improve notably the visibility of contract and supplier management activities
  • Liaise with the Procurement Operations team to improve the integrity of our management information and quality of our reporting tools
  • Managing (including doing regular spend monitoring of) your area’s approved arrangements and catalogues (where applicable)
  • Act as the secretariat for the category’s Commercial Board / Pipeline & Engagement sessions


Knowledge, Skills and Experiencerequired

Minimum Criteria:

  • Capability to translate data into meaningful insight for appropriate audiences
  • Strong analytical capabilities and excellent knowledge of Excel, and notably creating user-friendly spreadsheets, ready for user input
  • Experience of working with managed service provision

  • Experience of e-procurement systems from a S2C, C2P or CLM point of view
  • Understanding of POs, invoices, receipts and supplier payments
  • Demonstrable ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivation, with the ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Capability to translate data into meaningful insight for appropriate audiences
  • Understanding or oversight of Commercial administrative tools e.g. e-Sign, D&B

Salary and Benefits Information

This specific role offers a base salary of circa £38,160 - £47,700 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis. We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

• A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
• A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
• A 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
• 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
• Private medical insurance and income protection.

National Security Vetting Process

Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
