More about your role

We are excited to recruit a Commercial Developments Graduate as part of our 2024 Graduate Programme, internally known as our Emerging Talent programme.As one of our Developments Graduates within the 2024 Emerging Talent Programme, you'll join our regional team to support the development lifecycle from land acquisition through to housing sales and management.

The two-year programme will support you to develop the core skills, behaviours and technical ability to develop your career across Developments in a range of role. Over the two -year programme you will be supported by industry experts to deliver mixed tenure placemaking developments across England and Scotland. We operate using the processes and ways of working of a volume housebuilder whilst offering social impact and community investment.

You'll collaborate with all departments from sales, finance, build team and have the ability to enhance teamwork and conversation between them.

As part of our commercial teams you'll support the team to identify potential opportunities for growth through new commercial opportunities and new strategic partnerships. Working within the commercial team you'll undertake day to day activities including cost plan management, procurement with the focus of the team to ensure best value is achieved. You'll work alongside and develop relationships with contractors and construction teams, working closely with them to resolve issues and ensure project delivery.

This role is a Hybrid role with opportunities to work from home but also benefit from learning from the technical expertise around you both within your business area and the surrounding business. The successful candidate needing to visit site locations across the North and offices in Preston and Leeds.

The start date for this role is September 2024 which will include a week long induction from our Leeds Office which will include introductions to the Executive Team, a tour of Places for People housing stock & social opportunities for you to meet the rest of the 2024 Emerging Talent cohort.

You'll be a recent graduate with a degree in a relevant subject. Developments and Construction is a melting pot of academic backgrounds with a shared love of the industry. You'll want to start a career in housing developments and be excited about doing this at Places for People.

Your role will see you working with internal colleagues, customers, contractors and other suppliers. You'll be a confident communicator and have an ability to adapt your style based on what is needed at the time.

People may have described you as self starter with the want to drive forward action and deliver results. You'll think about the bigger picture and understand how strategic and commercial decisions are made You will be commercially orientated, pro-active and open minded to change and innovation.
