Octavius is a leading civil engineering organisation dedicated to delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
We have been awarded the Wales & Western stations and building work contract and are seeking a skilled Commercial Manager to drive the successful and robust commercial management of the portfolio of projects on this framework.
The contract cover projects from 2024 to 2029 (Control Period 7), including ongoing maintenance and renewals of canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks, and subways.
What you'll do:
- Build, develop, and lead a commercial team, ensuring high service standards of professionalism, accuracy, and performance monitoring.
- Act as a trusted advisor to all customers, internal and external, leading sound commercial decision-making to maximise project financial outcomes.
- Contribute to pre-delivery activities to secure high-value contract awards.
- Support the commercial team and program managers in the performance management of projects.
- Build, manage, and improve the capability of the commercial project portfolio team.
- Drive financial results through the efficient application of financial management processes.

About You:

You'll bring:
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Managing Quantity Surveyor, in a Civil Engineering environment.
- Demonstrable experience of leading teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of monitoring cost performance of projects and contract administration.
- Experience in NEC contracts is a must.
- A degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management (or equivalent qualification / relevant experience) is required.
- Professional membership with a relevant Professional body (i.e RICS or CICES) is desirable.
