THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the Commercial team at Leonardo, within Electronic Warfare which is a major growth area with ambitious targets over the short to medium term.
Leonardo are looking for a Commercial Officer to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment for the S&PT sector within its Electronic Warfare (EW) division. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial S&PT, the role interfaces with a variety of domestic and International customers and works in support of integrated project teams (IPTs).
The successful candidate will have some grounding in a commercial environment and have experience working within a fast-paced and challenging environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A COMMERCIAL OFFICER
• Act as the Commercial POC for lower level/value contracts in support of the IDAS IPT. This will include Business winning, bidding and Contract Management activities
• Act as the Commercial POC lower level/value contracts with the Leonardo Helicopters Division in support of the Sensors IPT. This will include Business winning, bidding and Contract Management activities
• Other Ad-hoc Bidding and Contract Management support to Sensors IPT
• Other Ad-Hoc Bidding and Contract Management support to Spiral Development in support of the IDAS IPT
• Debtor lead for Leonardo companies ensuring payment position is clear and necessary action taken to ensure cash position
• Support to commercial IPT leads on additional bidding/CM or Stock Order activity as directed
• Support to residual EW&C Framework Contract Management
• Owner of the Secure drives NMH Drives including
• Maintain the 14 individual NMH drives
• Provide individuals with access to the relevant drives
• Ensure all individuals involved in NMH receive fairness and
• ethics brief
• Support Contracts Manager on NMH activity as directed
• Collate the monthly Commercial Issues Report inputs from the S&PT Commercial team, and submit final version to Commercial VP.
• Support the Commercial team in processing Customer Purchase Orders by generating CAR Packs and E-CAR Forms as well as, creating new sales orders on SAP.
• Generate pricing and support the collation of Review packs as appropriate for pricing approval.
• Commercial POC for drafting/managing of Non-Disclosure Agreements and other standard agreements as directed by Commercial leads
• Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, customers and Partners to deliver the value to the company.
• Work as an integral member of the Integrated Project Teams to support the winning of new business and the management and delivery of current contracts.
• Managing own workload, highlighting areas of conflict or priority and effectively managing stakeholder and customer expectations.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
• Comfortable preparing and providing briefs to more senior staff
• Flexible mind set and adaptable approach.
• Extremely skilled at managing a variety of tasks across a portfolio, adeptly prioritising and communicating effectively with key stakeholders and customers.
• General understanding of business finance, profit and loss, margin and mark up, escalation, foreign exchange
• General understanding of export legislation, import taxes and duties
• High level of understanding of contract law and its application.
• Ability to build effective and strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers and suppliers
• Microsoft Office knowledge and application of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Possess excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation skills.
• Proactive, tenacious, results driven
• Desire to learn and improve self (including using the Corporate World Commerce & Contracting membership for self-development).
• Willingness to travel in the UK to customers sites with possible overseas travel
It would be nice if you had:
• Commercial and/or defence contracting experience
• A general understanding of Leonardo markets, products, customers and suppliers
• Ability to promote a culture of best practice and sharing of knowledge within the function and across the wider business
• A strong familiarity with SAP and its functionality
