Reed is proud to be working with a leading global insurer, who currently has a vacancy for a Commercial Underwriter. They are an award-winning business who are renowned for their inclusive team culture, and will support your development and career aspirations.
You will be a valued part of the growing underwriting team and will be responsible for underwriting/managing a portfolio of existing and new business Property and Casualty risks - offering exceptional service to customers.
Roles are 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, hours between 9:00am – 5:00pm
Salary is between £38,000 and £48,000 depending on experience, plus bonus.
You will be based in their Manchester or Leeds office, though flexible and hybrid working is available.

What will you be doing?
- Underwrite new and renewal Property and Casualty risks
- Negotiate with brokers and clients to ensure the best possible terms and conditions for the company
- Manage relationships with brokers and clients, providing excellent customer service and maintaining high levels of satisfaction
- Evaluate and analyse risk information to determine appropriate coverage and pricing
- Monitor and analyse industry trends, regulatory changes, and other relevant information to stay up-to-date on the property insurance market
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives and profitability goals
- Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and other members of the underwriting team
- Work closely with other departments such as claims, legal, and finance to ensure effective risk management and profitability

About you:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in Property or Casualty underwriting
- Strong technical knowledge of property underwriting principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
