Commis Chef

Job Summary:

A great opportunity is available to either start or further your culinary career as our Commis Chef within the fully refurbished and newly re-opening Alyth Hotel in rural Perthshire.

You would be working in a small team, preparing fresh food from scratch, learning skills across the kitchen from cold larder to the hot food on the pass, as well as gaining some valuable skills on the pastry section.

Initially this position will be seasonal, beginning around the start of June (exact date flexible) and will be full-time, 40-50 hours per week. Possibility to become permanent, or to progress your career up to CDP. Equal share of tips, above living wage hourly rate for your age group, staff meals, and accommodation can be provided if necessary.

Duties:
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and cutting ingredients
- Follow recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistent quality
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary role is preferred, but not essential
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm
Contract length: 5 months

Salary: £8.80-£12.70 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
