Job Title:Commissioning Engineer
Location: Flexible Travel Covered
Salary: Up to £800 Per Day via PAYE Umbrella
Contract Length: 12 months
We're seeking a skilled and confident individual to spearhead the commissioning phase of an exciting new project. You'll play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and efficient transition from construction to operation, maximising our clients uptime and delivering on key project milestones.
Responsibilities:
- Command the commissioning ship: Oversee all commissioning activities, ensuring timely completion and adherence to established plans.
- Navigate stakeholder waters: Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders through regular joint commissioning meetings, maintaining clear communication and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Bridge the gap with the ESO: Foster a constructive relationship with the Electricity System Operator, liaising effectively to secure EON/ION when needed.
- Chart the course from construction to commission: Work closely with the completions department to ensure a seamless transition from construction to commissioning, minimizing hiccups and maximizing efficiency.
- Power up safely: Implement safe and effective commissioning protection settings for circuits, ensuring their activation during the process and proper restoration afterward.
- Troubleshoot with precision: Possess strong fault-finding skills, capable of efficiently identifying and resolving issues within protection circuits, including relay interrogation.
- Plot the commissioning journey: Develop comprehensive commissioning switching programs and schedules, meticulously capturing all essential testing and procedures.
- Keep the captain informed: Provide regular, insightful weekly reports to management, keeping them abreast of progress and any potential challenges.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record: Demonstrated success as a Lead Commissioning Engineer, leading teams through complex projects to successful completion.
- Substation savvy: Extensive experience working within transmission substations, intimately familiar with their intricacies and safety protocols.
- ESO expert: Strong familiarity and experience dealing with the National Grid Electricity System Operator (NG ESO) and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET).
- Authorized access: Possession of an NG Persons authorization would be highly advantageous but not mandatory.
- Leadership compass: Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of Commissioning Engineers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
