We’re looking for highly motivated individuals, with experience and a solid understanding of local government and the legislative framework around local authority decision making, to join Sandwell’s friendly Democratic Services Team.
Working at the centre of the organisation, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and continuous improvement of the Council's governance arrangements, working with politicians and senior officers to ensure that decision making is effective and efficient and supporting local democracy to make Sandwell's Vision 2030 a reality.
You will provide advice on the interpretation and operation of legislation and the Council’s Constitution and be responsible for all matters relating to the administration of various Council meetings. As a Lead Officer, you will be expected to work with minimal supervision and will have a desire to share your own knowledge and experience to support others on their development journey and assist them in performing to the best of their ability to ensure that the service thrives.
We are looking for flexible team players, with initiative, excellent organisational and communication skills, political awareness, a confident and positive disposition and the ability to work with people at all levels.
The Council is currently operating hybrid working so some office attendance is required, as well as attendance for formal meetings, many of which take place outside of normal office hours.
