What you'll do:
As a Commodities Lawyer, you will play an integral role in providing advisory and transactional support across our client's global offices. Your primary focus will be on commodities transactions including precious metals, base metals and energy. You will work alongside experienced lawyers offering comprehensive support to diverse stakeholders. This role offers an opportunity to develop transactional skills and in-house legal capabilities through exposure to an interesting range of work.
* Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commodity agreements and related documentation
* Provide legal advice on commodity transactions and aspects of contract performance when they arise
* Review documentation and advise on a variety of non-commodity legal documentation and related legal issues as required
* Undertake legal analysis to identify risks and help front office navigate them within the Bank's regulatory framework
* Work closely with the legal team, front office and other departments to deliver business objectives
* Maintain an awareness of evolving legal developments and contribute to the development and implementation of team initiatives
What you bring:
The ideal Commodities Lawyer will bring proven experience from a law firm, investment bank or commodities trading house. You should have strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple work streams effectively. A deep understanding of legal issues relevant to the commodities sector is essential, along with knowledge of PRA/FCA rules or equivalent. Personal attributes such as resilience, attention to detail, result-oriented approach, high level of integrity are highly valued.
* Legal qualification in England & Wales or other common law jurisdiction
* Post qualification experience at a law firm, investment bank or commodities trading house
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple work streams
* Knowledge of legal issues relevant to the commodities sector
* Understanding of PRA/FCA rules and regulations or equivalent
