This post is fixed term for 12 months. DSLS is looking to appoint a highly efficient, dynamic and enthusiastic professional to join a small team within its Business Support Office as the Communication & Events Coordinator.
As the Communication & Events Coordinator, you will be joining the charity at an exciting time as we look to develop and embed the next phase of the DSLS strategy across Devon and beyond. DSLS offers school leaders an ongoing programme of CPD events and conferences as well as information and resources via various channels including the regular electronic newsletter, website and other social media.
DSLS is a small independent charitable organisation which represents and supports a network of school leaders from schools and academy trusts within Devon and beyond.
As an independent organisation, our motivating drivers are to:
- Be the voice of and support for school leadership in the south-west
- Become the conduit for developing leadership and driving school improvement
- Proactively address the needs of leaders to ultimately benefit learners
- Become a self-sustaining, not for profit organisation
Working strategically alongside all other education and multi-agency stakeholders, DSLS plays a key role in developing and influencing policy decision making at both local and national levels.
Having launched in September 2020, the DSLS priority is to build upon a successful and recognised brand and to develop our core and traded offer in response to the needs of school leaders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential as well as demonstrating strong organisational flair with attention to detail. You will be a good team player, able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage a busy workload with changing priorities.
Previous experience of coordinating small meetings up to large events/conferences with 100-150 attendees will be essential and, although not necessarily to have worked in a school, some knowledge of the education sector would be an advantage. A key feature of this role is the administration and maintenance of the charity’s existing customer relationship and events management database with plans for a fully integrated software package to be introduced shortly.
This is a part time post with working weeks aligned to school term dates within the academic year. DSLS can offer flexible working arrangements by agreement with some occasional home working subject to business and operational requirements.
The DSLS Board of Trustees is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
