Communications and Content Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Communications and Content Manager with a significant breadth of Communications and Content experience, which will help a growing youth charity to achieve its ambitions as it embarks on its biggest ever period of growth.

This is a rewarding role offering flexible and hybrid working.

Position:Communications and Content Manager

Location: London or Bolton/hybrid (2 days a week in the London or Bolton)

Salary: £38-£44k (depending on location and experience)

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week with flexible working available)

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

This is a newly created role within the growing Communications team of a national youth charity. We are looking for an experienced, talented communications all-rounder with a breadth of skills to help deliver the strategic communications objectives.

Most critical will be your eye for a story, and ability to create compelling written content that helps to bring to life the powerful impact of the organisations work in a way that captivates a range of audiences from media to potential funders.

This is a key role within the communications team helping to create understanding and awareness amongst the key audiences that matter to the organisation, as a growing national charity.

There are four parts to the role

 

  • Lead the storytelling work, identify and capture powerful stories that bring to life the charities work and why it matters.
  • Manage a small portfolio of local integrated Communications and PR programmes raising awareness of projects, at various stages.
  • Support the communications functions of existing Youth Zones, providing support, guidance and a listening ear to communications colleagues.
  • For the first year of this role (while the Communications and Brand Manager is on maternity leave) you will take on specific projects to support the ongoing embedding of the brand.

 

About You

You’ll be a confident storyteller and copywriter with a journalistic ear, and a passion for creating exceptional written content– to help make the case for why youth work matters for young people.

You will have experience of:

 

  • Communications, either in agency or in house
  • Communications, including PR, copywriting and digital
  • Using digital platforms and tools such as MailChimp, Hootsuite, WordPress and Google Analytics
  • Managing creative/design/digital agencies and briefing design and print teams
  • Building relationships with journalists and working with the media to proactively generate coverage and enhance organisational reputation
  • Advising internal and external teams and stakeholders at all levels and providing expert and confident communications advice

 

The breadth of this role means no two days are the same, which is why we are seeking somebody organised, dynamic and self-motivated, with exceptional project management skills.
