Job description

We have a brand-new opportunity at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association for a Communications Officer with experience of working in communications, public relations, or media.

This role will be working closely with our Campaigning and Policy team and our Care team. You will inform, inspire, and engage audiences, including the public, Government, local authorities, and health and social care professionals about the work of our Campaigning, Policy, and Public Affairs team and Care team through compelling and targeted communications on multiple platforms.
Developing collaborative relationships with colleagues across the Campaigning, Policy, Public Affairs and Care teams, you will ensure a reliable and steady information flow to inform communications plans and provide end-to-end communications support for projects and campaigns including Through the Roof, Act to Adapt, Adapt Now Welsh Homes for MND and Support MND Carers.
You will identify relevant spokespeople from the organisation and ensure they receive the necessary training, briefing and support to represent the Association's work through the media.
Developing and maintaining relationships with media outlets will also be a key focus of the role, allowing us to create and fulfil opportunities to share the work of the Association.
This is an exciting new opportunity to work closely with our Campaigning and Care teams, focusing on sharing more news and information to inspire further impact reporting, fundraising, awareness and information for people living with and affected by MND.
What are we looking for?
Experience of working in communications, public relations or media with the ability to write engaging and compelling copy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience of developing effective relationships and working collaboratively.
Key skills include organising and prioritising a workload under pressure, creative thinking, and the ability to influence at all levels.
Experience of communications in the care and / or campaigning space would be beneficial.
