Job description

We are looking for a Community Connector to join our Creative Engagement department on a fixed term, full-time basis.

We will be holding an informal information session over Zoom on Thursday 18th Aprilat 13:00-14:00for anyone who is interested in learning more about the Community Connector role. You can sign up here.

About the team and role:

The role sits within the Creative Engagement (CE) team which aims to find new and creative ways for young people, schools, communities and individuals to engage with the Southbank Centres artistic programme, collections and buildings. We do this all year round through outreach programmes, our learning and participation projects and our support of the next generation of artists and creatives. We work nationally, but we are deeply committed to our local community in Lambeth and Southwark.

Role Objectives:

Southbank Centre's Community Connector will focus on the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, and this role has been created for someone who is passionate about engaging local communities in the arts and in audience development. Your job is to be out meeting, learning about and understanding the
interests and motivations of the people who are our neighbours, and to bring this knowledge back to the team at Southbank Centre, to help us be responsive to the needs and interests of our local communities.

You will be a Southbank Centre's key representative in Lambeth and Southwark with a wide range of stakeholders from housing associations to local councillors and community groups and local organisations. We are looking for a brilliant communicator who loves working with and can relate to people of all ages and
backgrounds, who has great ideas and a commitment to genuine long-term relationships with our communities.

Additionally, you will support Southbank Centres Audience Development aims, to reach more young people (under 30s), families, and Black, Asian and Ethnically Diverse Audiences. You will help support low- cost ticket and concession offers, ensuring they reach those who need them most.

Please see the attached job description for the full list of roles and responsibilities and person specification.

If you feel you have just some of the required skills and experience but meet the person specification, we would still encourage you to apply; we are very open to continuing the training and development of individuals who are self motivated to acquire new skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are local residents of Lambeth and Southwark and have an understanding of the community.

Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre is Europes largest arts centre and one of the UKs top five visitor attractions, occupying an 11-acre site that sits in the midst of Londons most vibrant cultural quarter on the South Bank of the Thames. The site has an extraordinary creative and architectural history stretching back to the 1951 Festival of Britain. A community centred on art, where everyone, no matter their job, helps make the experience.

We present work for everyone and we welcome applications from people from a Black, Asian or Ethnically Diverse background or those who are D/deaf or disabled.
