Provide specialist advice and support to staff regarding IPC issues Provide advice and information and promote IPC education for patients and carers Advise on IPC measures and supervise their introduction and implementation Have both an advisory and clinical input into patient care where relevant To explore current practice, identifying areas for development and planning the appropriate change using research and experience to evaluate the outcomes In concert with Public Health England, investigate outbreaks of health care infection and initiate and monitor control measures Communicate significant laboratory reports to staff and instigate appropriate action Educate patients/residents/carers regarding infections and IPC measures Engage with patients and carers, proactively, in avoiding and resolving complaints Ensure delivery of evidence based care by regularly evaluating IPC measures Act as patient's advocate in promoting, and delivering the highest standard of nursing care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current relevant policies and procedures are adhered to
