2 vacancies: 37.5 hours/week and 30 hours/week. Permanent posts.
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Community Infection Prevention and Control Team at Bolton Foundation Trust in conjunction with Bolton Local Authority Public Health department. There are 2 vacancies, a 37.5 hrs/week and 30 hrs/week post, the role will be varied and include potential future cross cover within the acute infection control team.
Successful applicants will assist with the delivery of an established, dynamic and well respected service to offer a supportive service to community health and social care providers across Bolton. These include the care homes (residential and nursing bedded), but also domiciliary care providers and other settings, including Bolton Hospice . Applicants will also be assisting the team with monitoring, and managing outbreaks of infection.
Applicants will ideally have experience of audit processes, however will be well supported in learning how this process works to promote best practice.
A good basic knowledge of the principles of Infection Prevention and control or willingness to learn on the job is desirable, along with an ability to teach, support and effectively encourage best practice through constructive feedback to non-clinical and clinical staff, to members of the public, and to patients receiving care in the community.
Deliver a safe, responsive and effective infection control services across the Bolton community and Trust
Act as a resource for specialist advice in Infection Prevention and control
Act as a resource for specialist advice in IPC
Act as a resource for specialist advice in relation to COVID-19
Provide assurance of clean, safe care being implemented
Advise staff on IPC issues relating to planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and equipment care
Educate staff regarding IPC and COVID-19
Undertake surveys and audits
The role is a collaborative role working with individuals and groups across professional and organisational boundaries
This is an exciting opportunity to become become part of an enthusiastic, dynamic & experienced Community Infection Prevention & Control Team
Our team consists of a IPC lead , Matron , Band 7, x3 band 6's and Band 3 Admin.
Provide specialist advice and support to staff regarding IPC issues
Provide advice and information and promote IPC education for patients and carers
Advise on IPC measures and supervise their introduction and implementation
Have both an advisory and clinical input into patient care where relevant
To explore current practice, identifying areas for development and planning the appropriate change using research and experience to evaluate the outcomes
In concert with Public Health England, investigate outbreaks of health care infection and initiate and monitor control measures
Communicate significant laboratory reports to staff and instigate appropriate action
Educate patients/residents/carers regarding infections and IPC measures
Engage with patients and carers, proactively, in avoiding and resolving complaints
Ensure delivery of evidence based care by regularly evaluating IPC measures
Act as patient's advocate in promoting, and delivering the highest standard of nursing care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current relevant policies and procedures are adhered to
