Job description

Our client, based in Canterbury,Kent, is currently recruiting for a Community Keyworker role on a 3-month temporary contract.

We are proud to be representing this client that is a women’s charity who work with women who have experienced domestic abuse and help them take control of their lives as well as help women who have committed crimes or are at risk of offending and help them break the cycle.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis and the hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating and developing support plans to aid women and access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing an in-reach person prison service to women within the Criminal Justice System in the 12 weeks prior to them leaving
  • Preparing them to leave by developing/reviewing support plans and developing and regularly reviewing individual support plans across all 9 pathways of need
  • Regularly assessing and meeting with women to provide practical and emotional support
  • Ensuring women are fully ready for the outside e.g. ensuring they have housing/accommodation in place, setting up welfare benefits etc.
  • Working with women to ensure they abide by their release terms
  • Attending the different probation offices in the region you cover, integrating with National Probation
  • Service staff and introduce the Minerva services to the client

Experience required:

  • Experience working within the Criminal Justice System is highly desirable
  • Significant experience of working with women experiencing issues related to offending (e.g. homelessness, substance misuse, domestic violence, mental health or other relevant work area) preferably within criminal justice setting
  • Enhanced DBS required within the last three years

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Creating and developing support plans
  • Conducting risk assessments
  • An in-depth knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk of offending; both in and out of the Criminal Justice System

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday 9am-5pm (no weekends or shifts)
  • x2 days working from home
