Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to head up a newly created team within Action Tutoring’s structure, sitting within the Marketing and Communications department. Action Tutoring has tripled in size since 2019-20 and has ambitious plans to grow further. In order to achieve that you will play a critical role successfully converting those that apply on their journey to actively volunteering on a programme, whilst the marketing team focuses on bringing in a high number of quality applications.
This role and team will focus exclusively on that tutor journey once their application has been received, ensuring high conversion rates at every stage of the process to becoming an active tutor (including getting them booked on to training, supporting with their pre-volunteering checks, guiding them to sign up to a programme/s, and encouraging them to tutor again on future programmes).
You’ll be a proactive person, able to work independently with your caseload of volunteer tutors to ensure they progress effectively through the tutor funnel, contributing to creative ideas and strategies to ensure their engagement. You’ll need to be a confident and strong communicator, comfortable with multiple forms of communication including emails, text messages and not afraid to pick up the telephone.

Interviews: Pre-screening interviews will run on 6th, 7th and 8th March 2024. The final interviews with the panel will run w/c Monday 11th March
Start date: Ideally March 2024 (negotiable according to notice period).
Duties and responsibilities
• Manage your caseload of volunteer tutors to ensure their successful onboarding to tutoring on a programme, taking responsibility for their journey from the point of expression of interest through to being allocated on a programme and retained.
• Ensure strong conversion rates through the tutor funnel at every stage of the tutor journey for your caseload: from interest to full application, to attending training, DBS checks complete, allocated to a programme/s and retention to future programmes. This includes processing applications and interviewing applicants with commitment to inclusive practices, safer recruitment and quality.
• Work effectively with your tutor engagement team to ensure that overall conversion rates are high and needs are met on the ground for the programme team.
• Work closely with the programme team to ensure high rates of tutor retention on to future programmes. This could include supporting the programme team with tutor socials and tutor alumni events.
• Contribute to devising and implementing creative strategies to drive conversion rates using a range of communication channels to engage tutors e.g. text message, phone calls, emails.

• Experience working with volunteers.
• Experience using Salesforce database.
• From a sales, call centre or customer services background.
