EMR’s Community Safeguarding and Security Manager is responsible for collaboratively working with British Transport Police, internal and external stakeholders to ensure East Midlands Railway safeguards its passengers, members of the public and employees throughout the business on our network.

You will identify, plan, deliver and review East Midlands Railways safeguarding commitments to ensure it meets conditions within the National Rail Contract. This will ensure we proactively safeguard passengers, members of the public and employees on our network

Main responsibilities:

• To lead on behalf of EMR in meeting its obligations to safeguard members of the public on the rail network and ensure EMR gains and maintains the DFT Safeguarding on Rail Accreditation
• Ensure EMR maintains its Secure Stations and Park Mark accreditations
• Support the development of, and implement, EMR’s Work-related Violence action/improvement plan in order to protect its employee
• Support in EMR’s commitment to safeguard its employees including commitments under UK Governments PREVENT requirements
• To work with the Crime Prevention and Security Manager and other stakeholders in safeguarding, crime prevention and security initiatives in order to safeguard its employees and members of the public
• To analyse, monitor and report safeguarding incident statistics
• Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure collaborative working in the safeguarding, crime and security arena
• Oversee EMR’s Body Worn Video System
• To support with CCTV related matters within the business.
• Identify hazards and risks associated with vulnerable persons, safeguarding apprentices and employees and maintain risk assessments
• Deputise and support the Crime Prevention and Security Manager as required.
• The above list is not exhaustive, and on occasion, the role may need to undertake other reasonable requests as required by their line manager, in line with grade and competence

As the Community Safeguarding and Security Manager, you will also manage the secure stations and Park Mark accreditations as required under the National Rail Contract, as well as support CCTV matters within the business that will link into the British Transport Police where necessary.

The successful candidate will be a confident and driven with the ability to work on their own initiative. You will be self-motivated and able to set and achieve demanding targets and objectives.

Key skills

• Good sound knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable persons and protecting members of the public
• Good sound knowledge of safeguarding employees
• Experience in a safeguarding, Police or Security role would be desirable
• Knowledge and skills to identify hazards and risks and identify/implement mitigations
• Hold educational qualifications to degree standard or equivalent work experience
• Act as designated safeguarding lead, and hold or be willing to undertake training specific to this purpose
• Ability and desire to build excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to influence decision makers.
• Excellent IT skills in Microsoft and other relevant IT applications
