Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Gateshead.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Companion Animal Keeper to join our dog school and boarding team here at our York campus. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is capable of working with others and is responsible, passionate and knowledgeable about the overall animal management sector and has an enthusiastic approach to animal husbandry and welfare. The role is expected to be until May 2025.

Reporting to the Kennel and companion manager. Responsibilities include the day-to-day care and management of the companion section, general cleaning, feeding, maintenance, record keeping of the animal species and supervising students on work placement.

This role also encompasses the development of our brand-new Dog School activities! As the activities co-ordinator, you will be responsible for creating and delivering quality activities centred around canine enrichment and welfare, we have both indoor and outdoor facilities including our training area and secure compound to facilitate these. Examples of activities include: Dog birthday parties, socialising sessions, assisting with conferencing, courses and events. We are looking for a creative and innovative candidate that will develop new ideas and drive these activities forward.

Applicants should be educated to at least a level 3 in an animal related subject, and a degree in an animal related subject would be advantageous.
