Axcis Education are working with a high profile special school in Exeter to recruit experienced, compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work with a fantastic team of young people that all have Complex needs including autism or down syndrome Based on the M5 side of Exeter, the school is within a purpose built site that current has approx. 200 pupils. The age range of pupils is from 5 to 11 and many require 1-1 support. The role will be to contribute to the deliver of high quality health, care and therapy to learners whilst supporting a high standard of education. You will be an adaptable TA who works in a nurturing capacity to facilitate Learner’s making their own decisions and also to work in a listening and responding way. Duties will include • Working with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality education and care • Ensuring high levels of safeguarding • Supporting sensory and learning needs • Liaising with parent, staff and other professionals as appropriate The ideal candidate will have: - Previous experience of providing support to children and vulnerable adults - A good understanding of Child Protection guidelines - Physically ability to support young people, assisting with swimming, manual handling - A natural ability to demonstrate respect and empathy for others The hours are 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. This is a long-term that starts in January 2022 until Easter 2022 and could lead to a permanent role. The pay is £75 to 85 per day depending on experience.
