Our Bakkavor business in Bo’ness, based near Falkirk, specialises in the production of fresh, high quality salad products working primarily with premium retailers. To give you a sense for the scale of manufacturing in Bo’ness we produce over 70million salad based meals and side dishes from our 2 manufacturing facilities employing over 1200 people in the town.
The Role
Working at our Bo'ness site, the purpose of this role is to:
- Take responsibility for the internal and external site facilities ensuring they are maintained to high standard.
- To ensure that engineering compliance is maintained at all times.
- Ensuring that engineering compliance includes but is not limited to: Legionella, PSR, LOLER, Electrical, COSHH, PUWER, PPM RA’s, GWARA, Rentokil Pest Control, Calibrations/Validations, Contractor Control, engineering procedures and training.
- To manage the compliance of environmental regulations and contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives across the two Bo’ness sites.
- To contribute to reliability improvements of plant across the two Bo’ness sites. To provide engineering management support to the business as and when required.
Accountabilities
- Deliver engineering compliance through leadership of the Site Services team. Ensure that the site service team are coached and developed to ensure high levels of compliance are achieved and maintained.
- To maintain the library of all SHE, Technical, legal and Insurance engineering compliance requirements.
- Ensure all equipment meets statutory and Bakkavor H&S standards and escalate any areas of concern outside of their own control. Ensure safe systems of work are followed by Site Services team.
- Analyse the root cause of estate asset failure, impact upon service and develop action plan to prevent reoccurrence.
- Develop business cases to address investment needs and/or to inform estate asset management decision making.
- Develop impact and contingency plans for estate asset and/or service failure in consultation with subject matter experts.
- Responsible for the site grounds, internal and external building fabric, staff furniture, plumbing, and electrical works.
- Responsible for the management of contractors and permit control system in relation to Site Services activities.
- To ensure that effective business relationships are developed within the factory including all support functions.
About you
Completed engineering apprenticeship (NVQ level 3 / 4 or city & guilds).
IT skills MS Office, CMMS (Agility) literate, PLC and computer programming
- ?????Strong engineering and problem solving ability, ability to identify appropriate solutions to issues, and evaluate actions success. Use a structured approach (i.e. Root Cause Analysis) to problem solving.
- Strong communication/presentation skills. Able to communicate to people clearly, concisely and with a high level of integrity adapting style of delivery to the audience needs. Demonstrate confidence in a range of communication methods including: written reports, face to face, presentations, email etc.
- Expert knowledge of engineering/SHE principles and the practical application in a work situation. Able to logically analyse and collate information in a structured manner, drawing conclusions that enable the right business decisions to be made.
- Management experience minimum of five (5) years. Identify and maximise potential to deliver long term growth in individuals.
- Be able to persuade, challenge and influence others to achieve desired results for the wider business
- Be able to plan and organise resources and people to the demands of the business.
