Construction Compliance Inspector
This is a new role created by the BSF and so many different backgrounds will be considered for this role. You MUST be a chartered member of either the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE), or Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
As a Compliance Inspector you will be a key member of the team, you will report directly to the Directors, collaborating closely with colleagues and stakeholders. Your primary focus will be to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects by serving as the technical representative for clients. Your responsibilities include:
Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all parties involved in construction projects. Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to facilitate seamless project execution.
Site-Based Monitoring: Conduct on-site monitoring activities at various locations across the UK. Ensure that construction activities align with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Office-Based Reporting: Engage in comprehensive reporting activities. Utilize gathered data from Clerks of work, to provide regular interim reports and formal Compliance reports.
Collaboration with Project Team: Work closely with the Clerk of Works, Project Manager, and Employers Agent during the construction phase. Establish and maintain communication channels to support efficient decision-making.
Inspection Regime Development: Collaborate with the Clerk of Works to devise a robust inspection regime, incorporating zoned and sequenced working where applicable. Ensure the continuous monitoring of construction works to confirm satisfactory completion.
Defect Identification and Rectification: Use site inspection reports to identify and record defects. Oversee defect rectification measures, ensuring compliance with design specifications, Works Contracts, and industry standards.
Compliance Certification: Certify that construction works comply with relevant guidance and regulations. Complete Compliance Reports at designated milestones, confirming adherence to design specifications, Works Contracts, and Good Industry Practice.
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational Background: Hold relevant qualifications and demonstrate competence and experience in site inspections, external wall systems, and fire safety matters.
Professional Memberships: Be a current chartered member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE), or Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
