Having successfully placed a Risk Manager last year, our client have instructed Birchlake Recruitment to exclusively represent them in sourcing a Compliance Monitoring Manager. This is a newly created role based 2 days a week in central Birmingham.
Purpose of the role:
- Carry out Compliance Monitoring to assess the business’ adherence to regulatory standards and Group requirements.
- Work in line with established controls that enable the business and their clients to manage conduct risk and Consumer Duty requirements.
- Demonstrate a high work ethic and possess core knowledge and skills to support strategic objectives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and deliver the second line monitoring programme.
- Scope, implement and manage second line reviews, focusing on regulatory and conduct risk topics as per the Compliance Monitoring Plan.
- Perform Compliance Monitoring on all aspects of the FCA regulated activities within the business to assess compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, standards, and outcomes.
- Prepare both, individual reports, and the quarterly Compliance Monitoring Report to the UK Board.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to monitoring results and findings.
- Track and monitor actions through to successful resolution.
- Provide compliance advice to the business on the implementation of appropriate action plans to address identified gaps.
- Work with the Head of Compliance (HoC) to regularly assess the relevance and effectiveness of the Compliance Monitoring Plan.
- Attend management meetings and committees as required.
- Assist in all other tasks, periodic, ad hoc, or otherwise as directed by the HoC.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a Compliance Monitoring role in a FCA regulated business, including some within general insurance.
- Strategic thinker with expert understanding of relevant FCA rules, regulations, and best practices and with a proactive and professional approach.
- Strong analytical, research, and reporting skills, attention to detail and ability to exercise balanced judgement and decision-making.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills to enable communication at all levels.
- High energy, positive attitude, enthusiastic, professional, with a strong work ethic and open-door policy mindset, delivering first class customer outcomes whilst being able to apply commercial judgment.
