Purpose of the role- This candidate will play a pivotal role within the Compliance team in maintaining ethical and compliance standards for the company.
- Supporting the communication and delivery of compliance requirements to maintain Lexcel accreditation, preparation for and conduct of Lexcel assessments
- Providing support to fee earners and business services staff with their queries on regulatory requirements, to include SRA Codes of Conduct, SRA Accounts Rules and internal firm processes for compliance.
- Proactively monitoring action plans to improve standards, measuring their effectiveness and ensuring that milestones are being met.
- Handling individual client due diligence and conducting sanctions checks.
- Handling individual conflicts and confidentiality queries. Assisting with the administration of conflict checks, record keeping and carrying out internal searches
- Coordinating the firm's risk assessment, risk review and file review processes (including the firm's AML risk assessment process)
- Carrying out designated internal audits of files and processes, compliance monitoring, reporting any themes and record keeping
- Developing the format and content of reports for regular reporting to measure compliance with procedures (example: file audit results and similar tasks).
- Maintaining the process for reviewing, updating and communicating compliance policies, working with policy owners to identify improvements
Is this you?
- Previous experience in a similar role within a Law Firm
- Good knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations
- Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Office applications
- Proven ability to communicate accurately, clearly, and concisely, both verbally and in writing with a wide range of clients and various stakeholders.
- Ability to organise and prioritise a complex workload and work to tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Willing and proactive, with demonstrable ability to take responsibility for your own workload.
