Job Title: Computing and Games Technician

GI Group are now seeking to appoint a Computing and Games Technician to our Public Sector, Education Client based in Rotherham. The Computing and Games Technician will play a crucial role in supporting the technology infrastructure and services that enable seamless operations across the organisation. They will work under the guidance of senior IT professionals and will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and apply their technical skills to assist faculty, staff, and students with their technology needs.
Main Duties of the Computing and Games Technician:

  • Respond to emails, and phone calls from staff and students seeking technical assistance. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues promptly and courteously. Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate software and computer equipment.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, peripherals, and audio-visual equipment in classrooms and labs. Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices. Checking computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
  • Aid in the installation, updating, and troubleshooting of software applications used throughout the Digital Department, including operating systems and specialised software. Installing and configuring appropriate software and functions according to specifications and requirements
  • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure the stability and security of the college network including lab facilities. Assist in configuring network devices, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and performing network cable management
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate users on various IT tools, software applications, and systems. Create training materials, guides, and documentation to facilitate learning and empower users to utilise technology effectively

Role Requirements:

  • You will have worked in a professional IT support environment resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • You will hold a Level 3 qualification in computing-based qualification as well as a relevant technical certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) or equivalent
  • You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to work towards
