Conservation Volunteer - on a Nature Reserve Location:
Opportunities exist on most of our reserves in East and West Sussex. Please click the link at the bottom of this page to see a map of all of our Nature Reserves.
We encourage volunteers to volunteer at their nearest reserve. Overview of the role: Work parties undertake conservation tasks under the guidance of a group leader or a member of staff. Volunteers can travel to the reserves independently or there may be a central pick up point. Type of tasks you will be involved with: These tasks might include, scrub clearance, removal of invasive species or path clearance.
Experience/Skills Required:
Volunteers must be between the ages of 18 and 85, should have a reasonable level of physical fitness and ideally some interest in wildlife and conservation. Experience is not required. All volunteers will be asked to comply under health and safety regulations. Days/Times we would like you to be available: Days vary and volunteers are able to sign up with activities that suit their availability. Some groups are weekly, some monthly and others are seasonal. Benefits to volunteer & possible training opportunities: You need to wear old clothes, suitable footwear, bring food and drink and plenty of enthusiasm. Tools, training and gloves are provided, although you may wish to bring your own pair of gardening gloves. Travel expenses can be claimed by agreement.
