The outcome of the council’s Total Pay and Reward review means the full-time salary for this position from 1st April 2024 will be £26,873 to £27,334. The salary will be pro rata for part time and term time vacancies.
You are invited to apply for the position of Construction Assistant within the Construction Management Services Group (CMS) within the Council. The Group comprises four teams: Construction Management, Framework Management; Commercial Management; Construction Safety Management. This is a permanent position within the Construction Management Team based at County Hall in Beverley.
CMS delivers a programme of procurement and project management activities relating to servicing, maintenance, building and consultancy contracts. The group also procures and manages the regional construction framework agreements that form part of YORhub, further information relating to the details of these frameworks can be found on the website www.yorhub.com
The Construction Assistant role is to provide support and assistance to the team to deliver a programme of contracts and frameworks relating to maintenance and servicing of the Council’s corporate buildings, housing stock and other service areas. This will include drafting and updating of tender documents in accordance with the latest legislation, creating and updating spreadsheets and letters, gathering information to assist with procurement activities, assessing tender returns and attending events and meetings to provide accurate meeting minutes and administrative support. Appropriate in house and external training will be provided for what is mainly an administrative role.
The post is not construction site based and does not involve the direct supervision and management of the councils suppliers and contractors.
Candidates are sought who:
- Can liaise and consult with a range of colleagues and service users, including clients and customers, using oral and written communication;
- Can help with data collection and analysis, and administrative support in the arrangements of events and meetings;
- Have IT knowledge and experience mainly in the use of Microsoft Word & Excel;
- Have basic knowledge/ understanding or interest in the construction industry;
- Are flexible and able to attend meetings and work additional hours when required;
- Are willing to undertake further training to progress within the team;
- Preferably are aware of elements such as project management, NEC procedures, and procurement activities and processes, Health and Safety at Work and quality management systems, but training can be provided for these areas if required.
