And right now, we re looking for a Construction Supervisor - based at our Capenhurst site location.
What will your day look like?
• Actively promote a pro-active safety culture and be a role model, throughout the project lifecycle and across the Capenhurst site and wider Urenco Group
• Work in conjunction with the Construction Manager and project delivery teams to ensure that all engineering works meet the HSSE requirements of the contract
• Ensure that the Principal Contractor duties are discharged.
• Review and acceptance of risk assessments and method statements providing coherent and relevant feedback
• Ensure all construction activities are undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Construction Design and Management regulations
• Advise, consult, and provide feedback in the development and evolvement to deliver against Urencos objectives and strategy across capex portfolio
• Ensures construction implementation complies with the design, engineering principles, company standards and related specifications and legislation
• Coordinate activities concerned with scheduling of construction activities and resolving engineering design, constructability issues and test problems
• Monitor project and contractor performance and assist in dispute resolution
• Assit in the preparation and review of estimates for changes and work as part of the project team to ensure that these are coordinated and delivered on time
• Ensures timely reports are made to the Project Manager regarding engineering and sub-contractor progress, manpower requirements or concerns
• Ensures co-ordination between all aspects of engineering, design work construction and manufacturing for delivery on site
• Act as Contract Supervisor / Nominated Representative for the project to which they are assigned.
• Work in conjunction with the Construction Manager and project delivery teams to ensure that all engineering works meet the quality requirements of the contract
• Ensures that design and construction reviews, are carried out in accordance with Urenco and customer procedures
• Works within the time schedules, man-hour budgets, project policies, and specifications established for the project or contract
• Assist with the coordination of project stakeholders and adhereance to the overall project quality plan
• Ensure that identified contractors are suitably pre-qualified/ assured for the delivery of the project or contract
• Assist in the review integration of industry standard construction practices and contractor schedules to achieve project and business objectives
• Assist in the coordination and evaluation of technical quiries, design changes, specifications and drawing releases
• Work in conjunction with the project team to ensure that engineering and construction activities are prepared and planned in advance to meet the plan and budget requirements
• Facilitate integration of construction activities and technical requirements
• Be familiar with the basis of the estimate, scope and schedule and identify any potential changes, which may affect cost or schedule, construction as early as possible
• Ensure that information required is specified and collated appropriately for input to the construction process, monitored and delivered
• Building and maintaining customer relationships throughout the project, handling enquiries and contracts
• Manage and provide oversight of construction teams and contractor communities, providing training, guidance
• Ensure Urenco s commercial position is robustly protected through the application of good industry practice in contracting strategies, supplier selection, and procurement
• Learning from experience and industry best practice, assessing how they can be implemented at Urenco
• Participation in learning from experience sessions to input into continuous improvement
• Share knowledge from lessons learned in achieving zero defects at practical completion in quality, documentation, O&M documentation and training.
• Record continual professional development to evidence individual learning and development
• Ensure contractors work in accordance with Radiological Risk Assessments produced by the Radiological Protection Supervisor(s) to ensure compliance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations
What do you need to be great at this role?
• NVQ Level 3, HNC in relevant discipline
• IOSH / NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or similar health and safety qualification.
• Site Management Safety Training Scheme
• Duty to Manage Asbestos
• Radiation Protection Supervisor
• SSOW trained and nominated for the role
• Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator.
• Medium Risk Confined Space Entry.
• Management of Confined Spaces.
• Management of Working at Height.
• Management of Hot Works.
• Demonstratable practical construction industry experience relative to their specialist discipline. e.g.
IEE 18th Edition qualification (Electrical Discipline)
First Aid trained (Electrical Discipline).
• Demonstrable practical construction industry experience relative to their specialist discipline.
• The ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility, including ability to work shift patterns or night shifts where necessary.
• SSoW trained and nominated for the role - Permit Issuer and Isolating Authority (Electrical and Mechanical disciplines)
• Good knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
• Effective communication at a site level, working collaboratively under pressure, managing people in high pressure situations.
• Good leadership and managerial skills.
• Relevant design, construction and infrastructure codes, standards and guidance
• Urenco processes, procedures and requirements.
• Capable of working autonomously to make decisions relating to health and safety and construction related activities
• Temporary Works Supervisor, providing information to the contractor and Urenco Temporary Works Coordinator
• Maintain quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
• Problem solving and analytical skills , and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement measures to achieve it
• Effective communication at a site level, working collaboratively under pressure, managing people in high pressure situations
• Demonstrable ability to work within teams of highly performing professionals, accountable for delivery of the project
• Minimum 3 years Construction Management experience
• Previous, proven experience of providing health and safety advice in a construction environment relative to their discipline.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and proven track record of supporting their implementation on construction projects.
• Experience of successfully influencing construction and engineering projects, including where conflicting priorities exist, and outside own reporting line.
• Experience of working within nuclear or other high-hazard industries, including interacting with relevant regulators
