About You:

You will be part of the busy and ever-growing Contracts & Commercial Services team undertaking both domestic and commercial work carried out within Southampton City Council properties.  Your basic duties for example, will include leading and developing a designated team of trades, undertaking preparation and management of projects of varying sizes, dealing with finance, tendering and quoting for work, quality control/quality assurance, day to day matters, contract management/management of contractors whilst working in conjunction with other teams and departments in order to meet deadlines. As a manager you will assist and support your senior managers in achieving corporate aims, goals and assist in the performance of a fast moving and dynamic department.  Knowledge and experience in CDM is a must.

As the work is heavily varied a flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines. You will be liaising with residents, peers and colleagues on a daily basis so communication and customer focus will be essential to the role.  Experience and knowledge in this field is a must. 

You will need a full driving licence in order to drive to site and will also be required to undergo a DBS check as part of the pre-employment checks. 

As the work is varied a flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines. Excellent customer service skills, enthusiasm, and a ‘can do’ attitude is all essential as you’ll be our ambassador when you visit our customers’ homes to carry out repairs and installations to the highest of standards You will liaise with residents, peers and colleagues on a daily basis so communication and customer focus will be essential to the role. Organisational, customer service, time management and physical skills are key to this role.

  • The working hours for this role are 37 hours per week
  • This is a permanent position.   
  • Please note that appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.
  • This post requires a DBS check.
