We have a fantastic opportunity for two Control Centre Officers at Transport for Greater Manchester. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 3 months, with the possibility of extension.
What is the role?
Transport for Greater Manchester are looking for two Control Centre Officers to deliver a 24/7 multi modal control room. Manage all operations of TfGM transport network and facilities. Contributing to the function lead on incidents/events whilst continuing to deliver the organisation expectations.
What are your responsibilities?
- Monitor modal activity using specific individual mode monitoring systems.
- Triage and prioritise data reflecting any incidents specific to the mode identifying emerging trends, issues and disruption.
- Act as point of contact for incidents and escalate as per corporately agreed in procedures.
- Provide interventions in a timely manner (VMS, Social Media, Signal strategies) to support transport network performance across all modes.
- Prepare and disseminate clear complex and detailed peak reports on a daily basis at peak periods to specified deadlines.
- Develop internal reports for dissemination to both internal/external audience within specified timescales.
- Validate complex and technical information via various systems, including C2, CCTV, PPM.
- Maintain records of data/information incoming to the Control Centre.
- Monitor TfGM CCTV network and databases for transport network purposes.
- Identification and initiation of appropriate interventions or actions when required.
- Respond positively to considerable fluctuations in work levels.
- Assess a situation and make a decision outside of established procedures when required.
- Continue to deliver modal priorities in the height of disruption.
- Make instant decisions under pressure to ensure minimal impact on the network is experienced
- Knowledge of Transport and Highways network
What skills do you Need?
- Must have previous Control Centre Officer experience.
- Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking service users, and other members of staff including managers.
- Strong IT skills, as you will be using internal systems as well as Microsoft packages including Word and excel.
- Valid Standard DBS on the update Service
- Valid CCTV Licence, and Valid SIA Badge
- You will need experience within a control room in either a fire brigade, ambulance service etc.
- You will need to complete an assessment and then interview.
- Must be able to work on a shift rota basis, which includes earlies, lates, and weekend.
