Job description

An opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant to join the University of Surrey Finance Department on a fixed term contract.   Operating as part of our Studentships Team, you’ll provide University-wide management accounting information, including forecasting, analysis and reporting, which will be used to inform fact-based decision making that directly impacts the University’s financial sustainability. We value, empower and support every member of staff to get the best out of your unique talents, so you’ll be rewarded with a generous salary, 32 days holiday PLUS Bank Holidays, pension contribution of 14.5%, and a unique and vibrant working environment.    Role & Responsibilities The University currently funds around 750 PGR students, with funding varying between Research Council grants, industry funding and internal University funding.   You’ll work with the Studentship Management Accountant and Studentship Financial Accountant to ensure that an excellent service is provided to our funded students, external funders and our internal teams within the faculties and Doctoral College. This is a great opportunity for a Finance Professional looking for a new challenge within the Higher-Education Sector. Key Responsibilities Include: Creation, preparation and analysis of the monthly reports, budget and forecast, providing business finance support to stakeholders and have an understanding of the drivers of the variances Creation, preparation and dissemination of monthly reports on training grants and other external funding Assisting with the development and implementation of basic reconciliation training to other members of the immediate team Working alongside Studentships Management Accountant and Studentships Financial Accountant to ensure the service provision to PGR Students, the Doctoral College, and Faculties is maintained Be an active member of the Finance Department and a senior member of the Studentship team, representing Finance in the development of the strategy.   Educating non-Finance staff in Finance processes while establishing a strong and effective control environment within their business area, ensuring compliance with University Financial Regulations.
