Corporate Events Manager

Wandsworth Council is a dynamic local authority in London, committed to delivering excellent services and making a positive impact on our diverse community. We are looking for a Corporate Events Manager to join our team and help us effectively communicate our initiatives, engage residents, and drive positive change in the borough. The Communications Team is at the centre of the Council and has a high impact on the services and audiences it serves.  It provides strategic leadership on media relations, public relation, event management, community engagement, publications, social media management and monitoring, branding, design and the councils websites.  It is also responsible for the operational oversight, delivery and coordination of all communications activity across the wider council.

As the Corporate Events Manager you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of Corporate Events to support the Council’s objectives and enhance stakeholder engagement. From conferences and policy launches to stakeholder meetings and community activities, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless execution of events that reflect our brand, values, and mission.

You will be required to:

  • Design and manage public affair events on a local level to support the council to deliver key priorities. Working with local, regional and national stakeholders. On occasions working with the Mayor of London and senior national government figures. 
  • Lead the end-to-end planning process for council events, including defining objectives, developing event concepts, creating timelines, and managing budgets.
  • Work closely with communications colleagues to promote events through various channels, including email campaigns, social media, websites, and print materials.
  • Mentor and manage an Events Officer to support program goals as required by the communications team across multiple projects. 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-driven mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to draft compelling content, case study development and digital communications output.
  • Proven experience in event planning and execution, preferably in a local authority, corporate or agency setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Interview Date: w/c 17 June 2024 (interviews will be via video call - questions will be shared in advance)

Test/Presentation: In person written test and group exercise w/c 17th June – Wandsworth Town Hall.

The Corporate Events Manager is a two-year fixed term contract. This is a hybrid role working 2-3 days from Wandsworth Council offices/out and about in the borough and the rest from home.
