Costing Engineer

We are seeking a talented and motivated Costing Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our pricing.
The Costing Engineer / Estimating Engineer will be able to take control and break down designs to align costs for each component.
Responsibilities:
- Bill of Materials (BoM) Management:
- Create and review full and part BoM component costs for sales order quotes across all product lines.
- Generate and maintain accurate records of all BoM costs for historical analysis and database improvement.
- Monitor and maintain the accuracy of costing data within the database by comparing and reconciling data from quotes, plans, and actual costs.
- Cost Variance Analysis:
- Investigate discrepancies between quoted, planned, and actual costs, identifying the root cause of variances.
- Report findings and implement corrective actions to prevent future cost discrepancies.
- Cost Estimation and Reporting:
- Work closely with the supply chain to obtain accurate cost projections for new designs and components.
- Proactively identify and report potential cost variances before contract completion whenever possible.
- Substantiate and report recommendations for SAP component standard cost updates to the finance department.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Liaise effectively with personnel from sales, engineering, purchasing, and finance departments to ensure cost data accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work adheres to current health and safety regulations and company safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of Bill of Materials (BoM) management and cost estimation principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and investigate cost discrepancies.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (ideally SAP).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in a production planning/management role in a mechanical engineering manufacturing environment (preferred).
