Job description

Our client is a well-established and successful manufacturer, they are looking for a Costing Engineer to work with the Commercial Sales team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of bare stem valve BoM (Bill of Materials) costs for sales quotations.

This role will suit someone with a mechanical engineering background, that has been involved with the costing and suitability of products for customers (e.g. Cost Engineer / Estimator / Applications Engineer / Sales Engineer / Estimating Engineer / Quantity Surveyor (Engineering) / similar role). 

•    Salary £35k upwards, depending on experience.
•    Working Hours - 37 hours per week, 8.00am 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.00am 1.00pm on Friday.
•    Hybrid Working 3 days office / 2 days working from home.

Costings Engineer - Key Responsibilities: 

•    Create/review full and part BoM component costs for sales order quotes on all product streams.
•    Generate and maintain records of all BoM costs for retrospective analysis and/or data base enhancement.
•    Monitor all costing data base data using feedback from the Quote, Plan and Actual costs to maintain accuracy.
•    Investigate variances to find the cause of any discrepancies between the Quote, Plan and Actual costs and report findings to prevent recurrences.
•    Work with supply chain when obtaining accurate costs against new designs. 
•    Proactively report any discovered but unforeseen cost variances prior to the contract completion wherever possible.
•    Substantiate and report any requirement to change SAP component standard costs to the finance personnel.
•    Liaise with personnel from the sales, engineering, purchasing and finance departments to enable the above requirements to be met.
•    Ensure all work personally undertaken within TFT is carried out in compliance with current H&S rules and TFT safety systems and is in line with the requirements of the TFT duty of care document.

Applicant Requirements:

•    Extensive knowledge of Valves product ranges is highly desirable, however a knowledge of associated components, materials, and forgings would be acceptable.
•    Knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering manufacturing processes. 
•    Preferably production planning/management experience in a mechanical engineering manufacturing environment. 
•    Able to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
•    Good knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
•    You will have an analytical mindset.
