Operating at the heart of E.ON UK's circa £13bn of energy and energy related trading and pricing activities, provide quantitative analysis and commercial support for EEM and the wider business.
- Produce best in class forecasting of industry costs for E.ON UK such as Transmission, Distribution, FiT, RO, EMR and BSUoS, making up ca 50% of a customer’s bill. Total forecasting cost of ca £8bn over MTP period.
- Maintain and develop models and systems to provide risk analysis and Group reporting for E.ON UK.
- Develop and lead key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally to ensure costs are well understood and messaged to the business.
- Responsible for production of a certain set of cost forecasts, which could include Network and Policy costs.
- Support and coach and provide day-to-day management and organisation for more junior members of the team (note no formal line management responsibility)
- Calculate appropriate provisioning for industry cost risks within the business plan totalling c £100m per year.
- Support and increasingly lead and drive the development of risk mitigating proposals in case of industry risks exceeding the risk appetite of RU UK through close monitoring and interpretation of external environment changes in the wholesale and competitive markets as well as internally through business process change or business issue identification.
- Provide detailed analysis and modelling expertise to support decisions papers being taken senior decision bodies.
- Work with the wider Optimisation and Customer Costs team to enhance its reputation as an commercial centre of excellence, increasingly providing leadership of this tasks.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the wholesale energy markets, becoming a recognised expert within the team.
- Act as delegate for Costing and Risk manager as required
Essential
- Interest and passion for industry costs
- Strong reputation developed with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Several years experience in the energy industry, ideally in commercial roles
- Honours degree with post qualification experience in a commercial environment.
- Exceptional Analytical Skills with the ability to drive analytical techniques to improve business decisions and provide recommendations on such to management.
- Well developed Excel and Microsoft Office skills and interest in new technologies such as PowerBI and Snowflake.
- Self starter with ability to work independently, able to scope and drive their own and more junior colleagues work
- Experience of senior stakeholder management growing, being highly regarded around the business
Desirable
- Growing knowledge and experience of the energy industry (trading, upstream, retail and solutions)
- Wide ranging expertise in statistical techniques, e.g. regression modelling, monte carlo simulation, stochastic modelling, option theory, delta hedging growing to be recognised as an expert in the department at these.
