Job Overview:

The Counter Fraud Intelligence Officer will work with the Head of Counter Fraud and Investigations Service and the Deputy Head of Counter Fraud and Investigations Service to create, lead and sustain a comprehensive intelligence function for UK Research and Innovation. This will require reforms across a complex and fragmented cultural and legacy landscape with a multiplicity of systems.

Support the Head of Counter Fraud and Investigations Service to establish a positive intelligence sharing process across UKRI.  

The Counter Fraud Intelligence Officer will assist in the development and implementation of appropriate intelligent policy and strategy. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct complex intelligence analysis using large data sets to identify unusual themes and patterns
• Manage and resolve end-to-end inquiries (alerts, cases, reviews) in a timely manner
• Conduct research using internal and external sources to help determine potential suspicious activity and disposition or investigate as appropriate
• Proactively identify trends and emerging themes that can be used to enhance detection capabilities
• Manage competing tasks and priorities in a manner that effectively mitigates top risks.
• Produce detailed and comprehensive intelligence packages meeting the needs of the Investigating
• Officer to support delivery of Counter Fraud investigations. 
• The postholder will also be expected to provide operational briefings as required.
• You will be expected to present intelligence at case review meetings and provide advice and guidance to Senior Officers.

Person Specification:

Essential

• A good working knowledge of and ability to operate computerised databases and experience of analysing complex data accurately and must be able to adapt to dynamic priorities and tasking.
• Appropriate intelligence qualifications or at least 3 years relevant experience.
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills and an attention to detail and be able to demonstrate good organisational, planning and time management skills.
• Willingness to obtain qualifications
• Experience of working with data intelligence analysis systems’ Researching and gathering information from a wide range of sources
• Assessing information, conducting analysis and presenting results
• Evaluating information to determine its utility and application
• Experience in developing and implementing effective intelligence strategies and frameworks in an organisation.
