Job description

Established in 1985, Topspeed is a fast growing and successful company. With a large fleet of Mercedes Benz vans equipped with the TomTom Webfleet satellite tracking and navigation system, the company operates bespoke overnight & same day courier services, delivering throughout the UK and sometimes to mainland Europe.
Although primarily based in the North West the company has a comprehensive client base who need services throughout the UK and therefore there is a requirement for drivers based in all regions of the country.

Hours of Work

Although this is a variable hours contract, most Topspeed drivers work between 40 and 50 hours per week calculated from leaving home to returning home. The hours of work vary according to the workload and sometimes there is less, or more work. As we operate a 24-hours-a-day service, there is some requirement to work at short notice during late evenings and early morning.
This position is Monday to Friday inclusive. Weekends and public holidays are optional and are paid at a rate of double time.

Vehicle

Topspeed operates a fleet of Mercedes Benz Citan, Vito & Sprinter vans of with 30% is made up of electric vehicles.
All of the fleet was purchased from new and all are equipped with the latest satellite tracking and navigation equipment. Generally drivers only use the specific vehicle provided to them which, when not working, is parked at their home address.

Remuneration

Pay ranges from £11.47 to £12.47 per hour, calculated from the start of a driving period to the end of a driving period; and time and a half at the weekend. This includes short breaks or waiting time taken during the course of a journey.
Additionally, drivers have the opportunity to earn an extra 30p per hour Discretionary Performance Bonus, terms apply including (but not limited to): keeping within speed limits, not receiving a Notice of Intended Prosecution, not causing damage to property of vehicles, undertaking & reporting vehicle checks, keeping vans clean & tidy.

A Uniform is provided along with a Topspeed phone, company fuel and charge cards, and Insurances and Break down cover.

Essential job requirements

Successful applicants should be able to provide a CV or comprehensive work history and:

- have less than 6 penalty points on their licence and no disqualification in last 5 years

- have a good driving record without being the cause of serious traffic accidents in the last 5 years

- have good knowledge of the national road system

- be smart, presentable and courteous

- be able to pass basic security clearance, DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Check

- be able to supply 2 references.
