Position Overview: As a Court of Protection Paralegal, you will support our solicitors in managing cases involving vulnerable individuals who lack the capacity to make decisions about their own affairs. You will play a crucial role in assisting with legal documentation, liaising with clients and professionals, and ensuring the smooth progression of cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and Training: You will support the main case handlers with deputyship cases. If you have experience in the Court of Protection, you may manage your own files, or receive training to do so.
• Client Interaction: You will have regular contact with clients, addressing their lifestyle needs, giving practical advice, and ensuring their financial and care arrangements are managed effectively.
• Collaborative Work: You will work with families, professional advisers, social services, local authorities, care providers, government bodies, benefits agencies, financial institutions, and other professionals.
• Financial Management: You will make regular payments to clients and third parties, maintain accurate records of income and expenses, forecast future spending, and create and manage budgets.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience in Court of Protection is desired but not essential.
• Candidates from related non-legal backgrounds such as social work, community care, payroll, accounts, etc., are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
