Position Overview:
- We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Court of Protection matters, possessing excellent legal knowledge, analytical skills, and a genuine passion for advocating on behalf of vulnerable individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in Court of Protection matters, including applications for deputyship, statutory wills, and other related issues.
- Manage a caseload of Court of Protection cases efficiently and effectively, ensuring all deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies and provide accurate advice to clients.
- Prepare and draft various legal documents, including court applications, witness statements, and correspondence.
- Attend court hearings and represent clients in proceedings before the Court of Protection.
- Collaborate with clients, their families, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to case management and decision-making.
- Stay updated on developments in Court of Protection law and procedure, attending relevant training and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Maintain meticulous records of billable hours and ensure timely billing and invoicing.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor or Executive
- 3 years minimum experience in case handling
- Strong familiarity with relevant legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated Code of Practice.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Dedication to providing exceptional client service and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies, such as the Law Society's Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation Scheme, is advantageous but not mandatory.
