Cover Teacher

Are you a teacher looking flexible working during term-time?

Or perhaps you have classroom experience and comfortable supporting schools with varied class supervising?

We are supporting various Secondary and Primary Schools across Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes, who are looking to appoint Cover Supervisors during academic year to provided flexible classroom cover which enable them to plan training and absences throughout the year. This position is offers mornings and afternoons Monday to Friday during core school hours 08:30-15:30 to support with classroom cover.  Many schools offer teacher training provision and for the right candidate, would consider suitable candidates for inclusion in September 2024. 

Can you explain difficult things in a simple way? Do you have the patience, creativity, and communication skills to encourage learners of all ability levels to flourish?

An outline of a typical Cover Supervisor Day will involve:

• To carry out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are absent from the classroom (normally the absent teacher will have left some notes for you to follow and deliver to the class).
• You will manage the classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
• You will NOT teach any form of lesson but will leave handover notes for when the class teacher returns.
• You will cover lessons of all subjects.

Although you do not require any specific qualifications to be a Cover Supervisor, you do need transferable skills, such as: good written and communication skills, the ability to form strong relationships, the ability to present information and instructions clearly, patience and excellent organisation skills.
