We have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Risk Analyst to join a market leading team to work across the largest mortgage portfolio in HSBC. In your role you play an integral part in analysing mortgage data and mortgage applications, reporting on trends to ensure HSBC lend responsibly to new and existing customers.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with an analytical mindset/background that has desire to make a break into the space of Mortgage lending. You will work within a Risk team with a supportive culture, the team supports the biggest portfolio across the HSBC group and is central to decision making of all Mortgages products.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Credit Risk Analyst (Mortgages)

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and improve Credit Risk strategies to manage decisions throughout the credit lifecycle.
  • Provide analyses to manage credit portfolios against agreed performance indicators.
  • Support the delivery and implementation of WPB initiatives by providing input on both the Credit requirements and the impacts of proposed changes.
  • Support projects either driven from within Credit or from our external partners ensuring the projects have considered Credit implications and deliver an outcome with sustainable and appropriate level of returns.
  • Ensure that the portfolio strategies and processes are compliant with the appropriate regulations and regulator guidance.
  • Ensure adherence to Group and Regional policy and FIM requirements, providing timely MI and insight into the performance of different portfolios and delivery of key Global/Regional Risk initiatives;

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • A working knowledge in Retail Banking preferably in Risk, Analytics, Customer Value Management or business performance.
  • An understanding of mortgage products is desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail and a track record of analytical capabilities using relevant software packages such as (SAS/SQL are essential as a baseline, Python will be considered in addition);
  • An understanding of consumer lending products, profitability and credit risk;
  • Good track record of understanding business requirements and making decisions considering potential long term risks and implications.

The base location for this role is Sheffield with hybrid working on offer
