Role: Crime Data Assistant

Department: Force Control Room (FCR)

Scale: SC3

Salary: £23,556 - £24,462

Location: Grimsby

Hours: 30 hours per week (Part-Time)

Contract: Permanent

Humberside Police are recruiting for a Crime Data Assistant to support the force to ensure the accuracy of information through a process of audit and examination of data in relation to all aspects of reported and recorded crime. Monitor and respond to any queries in the CDA SPOC box daily.

As a Crime Data Assistant, you will work within a busy team processing paperwork from officers and the Criminal Justice Unit in accordance with the correct guidelines as well as carrying out general office duties.

Key Responsibilities:

· Advise officers as to what is required with regard to recording of crime including outcomes and will make decision to amend outcomes accordingly.

· Responsible for the processing all forms and enquiries from external agencies, including the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and insurance companies, updating the crime information databases with information received and providing factual information/updates of crime file status as requested.

· Prioritise workload. Ability to use initiative relating to non-routine matters, enquiries etc. Possesses an understanding of when to refer matters to a senior officer. Ability to complete tasks accurately within specified deadlines.

· Experience of working in a customer orientated field

· Experience of working in a clerical field, incorporating record keeping, telephone work etc

· Excellent communication skills

· Computer literacy/keyboard skills

· Excellent organisational skills

· Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.

· Demonstrates the ability to be assertive and remain polite and calm in difficult situations.

· Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.

· Ability to work as part of a team.

· Ability to prioritise workload.
