The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Data Science. This post sits within the Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology (LIAT), an interdisciplinary research centre in the University's College of Health & Science. You should hold an MSc in a related field and should be able to demonstrate an excellent track record in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Agent-based Modelling, Machine Learning or a related field. Specific experience in energy and thermal data analysis is preferred but not required.

This post is funded by Innovate UK Project Butterfly, which addresses the climate emergency by targeting rapid improvements in Resource Efficiency and Energy Efficiency (REEE) and aims to deliver scope 1 emissions reductions for leading food and drink manufacturers. The project is focussed on the delivery of novel technologies that drive REEE into operational factory environments to optimise complex high energy flow processes.

You will need to have strong mathematical and programming skills (e.g. Python) and be able to work on software projects using modern tools and environments (e.g. github, docker, Ubuntu). You will be responsible for contributing to research on the assigned project, as directed by the Principal Investigator, and in collaboration with other project team members. Anticipated tasks include helping to collect, curate, analyse and model sensor data gathered from multiple food manufacturing sites that are run by a national company, a collaborator on the Butterfly grant.

Please ensure that you upload your CV to your application.

For informal enquiries about the posts, please email Prof Elizabeth Sklar at esklar@lincoln.ac.uk.
