Bell Cornwall Recruitment are delighted to be working with a rapidly growing specialist law firm in the Birmingham area. They are looking for a Criminal Litigation Paralegal to join their team at an exciting time.

The role:

The role will involve assisting Partners and Associates with a wide range of commercial and Criminal Litigation matters.

The successful applicant will be expected to work in the areas of:

• Insolvency Litigation
• Commercial Litigation
• Civil Fraud
• Tax Litigation
• Financial Crime
• Financial Restraint & Asset Forfeiture
• Serious & General Crime
• Regulatory Investigations including professional discipline.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Attend client conferences/conferences with Counsel
• Draft letters, formal documents and defence statements
• Consider voluminous disclosure and preparing detailed disclosure requests
• Have a working knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Rules
• Train as an Accredited Police Station Representative and advise clients in the police station
• Prepare Instructions & Briefs to Counsel
• Prepare trial bundles

The successful candidate:

• Good academic qualifications (minimum 2:1 Degree) & LPC/BPTC
• Common sense and good judgement
• Punctuality and good time keeping
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Being administratively proficient
• Excellent I.T. skills to include use of case management systems and online legal research tools
• Good legal research skills and ability to draft well-constructed written legal notes/arguments
• An ability to work hard and to meet demanding deadlines
