SOUL 55 Virtual School Extended Role Consultant - Role Profile
The Virtual School for Children in Care to Plymouth City Council are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and pragmatic problem solver to undertake an exciting development project. The Virtual School Head’s role has been extended to include the strategic leadership of promoting the education outcomes of all children and young people with a social worker. It now covers all children who were assessed as needing a social worker at any time due to safeguarding and/or welfare reasons, which includes all those subject to a Child in Need plan or a Child Protection plan. This includes children aged from 0 up to 18 in all education settings.
In Plymouth Virtual School, we recognise that although a lot of work is underway to support this group, we do need a new Consultant who has the necessary skills, knowledge, and connections ion the city to really drive the agenda forward. If you are just such a person and have the necessary qualifications and experience of working in a school environment as a middle or senior leader, we want to hear from you.
The role entails working across the LA Children’s Services, Early years, Schools, and FE sectors to improve outcomes for this vulnerable group. It will be your job to develop a co-designed city-wide strategy that ensures providers have the support and advice they need to meet this cohorts needs, helping them to make good progress, attend well reduce exclusion in all its senses. You will be responsible for supporting and sometimes challenging social workers, school staff and other professionals, to do what’s in the best interests of children and young people. You will have access to some financial resources to support the system and will monitor and evaluate the impact of the support this buys.
