Job description


Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic leader to fill the role of Cross-Sectional Manager.
The post is full time permanent contract based at Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, with a requirement to work across other Aneurin Bevan sites and attend regional and national meetings.
The Cross-Sectional Manager will managerially and operationally lead the CT/MR service across ABUHB. This will involve managing staff and equipment on multiple sites in the Health Board. They will take responsibility for the CT/MR service and provide guidance to the staff working within it; have an expert knowledge, understanding and interest in CT and MR.
The Cross-Sectional Manager will be required to work with the Senior management team and key stake holders to deliver high quality, value for money Radiology CT/MR service. Manage, co-ordinate and when required, participate in the provision of the CT/MR service throughout the Directorate. This will include budgetary and workforce management and monitoring and effective use of resources and equipment.
The post holder will be responsible for contributing to compliance with the Welsh Government targets of Referral-to-Treatment Time and Single Cancer Pathway.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
• To manage a multi-disciplinary team to support service development and deliver effective deployment of CT/MR staff across the Health Board to ensure the provision of service delivery.
• To work effectively and present the requirements for the service to senior management considering targets and scanning availability.
• To manage change with the CT/MR staff as required by service development, enabling good operational management and ensuring targets are met. To take responsibility for resolving areas of conflict which may arise.
• To comply with performance related monitoring, participating in regular audits and reviews within CT/MR and have the ability to assess the whole range of demands on the services and manage the provision of the scanners to ensure excellent patient care.
• To provide performance data as required and ensure an effective working level.
• To provide professional leadership, advice and support to CT/MR staff on Radiography issues for effective development and managerial decision within the Health Board. To communicate with and reassure patients including those who may be distressed, uncooperative or have learning difficulties, in order to gain their co-operation.
• To possess and maintain an expert knowledge of the current CT/MR examinations being carried out and being responsible for all equipment used in these areas.
