Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer- Sentinel

Location: Preston/Frimley (Hybrid Model) - 2/3 Split pending business needs - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £47,000 - Depending on experience and skills

What you'll be doing:

  • Work as part of a team safeguarding BAE Systems UK enterprise IT infrastructure against cyber threats through the configuration, installation and maintenance of Cyber Security Technical Control Software solutions and compensating controls
  • Development of automation scripts using Sentinel and various toolset API's
  • To proactively install, manage and update hardware & Cyber Security toolsets as required for the role
  • Continuously work towards organisational, departmental, and individual objectives and uphold security standards and principles
  • Support of Sentinel and Azure automation (For clarity, this is not a typical network engineer or SOC analyst role)
  • Supporting Protection and Monitoring technologies
  • Supporting Endpoint Protection technologies
  • Understanding of how to connect multiple log sources to Microsoft Sentinel, including the ability to parse any log feeds to provide appropriate usage. This includes log management, log source integration and connector development skills to support ingests without off the shelf support

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Strong background in Microsoft Sentinel ideally in the context of automation
  • A strong technical background with proven experience including Microsoft Azure
  • Good understanding of architecture and configurations of large-scale networks (30,000+ devices) and the underlying security technologies
  • Experience of working with system management toolsets in a technical capacity

Desirable:

  • Relevant Security Certifications are desirable but not essential (CISSP, GIAC (Advanced Certifications) e.g., GCIA, GCIH or GCFA and CompTIA Security +

The Cyber Engineering team:

Cyber Operations is responsible for protecting BAE Systems from Cyber Attack by various threat actors. Not only do we protect BAE systems and its employees, indirectly we protect those who protect us - who serve in our military and rely on the products and services we create. Across Threat Intelligence, Detection, Incident Response and now Active Defence we work to evolve cyber operations as a world class capability. All roles in Cyber Operations are supported by Immersive Labs and other training as part of our Cyber Academy.
