Cyber Security Operations Technical Specialist  

Home/Manchester - (1 day p/week in the office + on call support)

35 hours per week, full time

About the role: 

As a Cyber Security Operations Technical Specialist, you’ll perform monitoring, detection, analysis and response of Cyber Security events. You’ll will be familiar with the security technologies used to perform threat and vulnerability monitoring within the Bank as well as possessing and analytical mindset to perform impact and risk analysis by correlating data from various data sources. You’ll also be responsible for security event/incident management, development and implementation of security controls to protect the organisation against Cyber Security risks, threats and vulnerabilities and coordinating incident response processes. 

 

Key Accountabilities: 

 

*               Undertake and develop technical information security monitoring to ensure that vulnerabilities and threats are identified and the appropriate response taken

*               Develop and document complete technical monitoring and management processes.  To include monitoring, alerting and response actions aligned to Bank IT Standards and industry best practice

*               Provide expert level technical advice to support the design and implementation of Cyber Security monitoring

*               Contribute to the development of technical strategy and governance processes to support delivery of core Security Technologies into the organisation to demanding deadlines

*               Lead or contribute to major investigations of complex and critical security issues and incidents, and assess and provide recommendations / solutions to Tower Lead

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:  

*               Strong information security skills, technical knowledge of information security topics, information security technologies, networking, good time management, stakeholder management and communications skills.

*               Excellent knowledge of ensuring compliance with Bank Security Standards and legal and regulatory requirements.

*               Experience of working with project teams

*               Experience of working within a Security Operations Centre

*               Strong internal & external stakeholder engagement

*               Strong technical background in the field of security technologies and architectures. 

 

Knowledge of technological trends, management and developments in the area of IT and Information security, particularly in the fields of:

 

*       Network Monitoring

*       Malware Detection/Analysis

*       Vulnerability Management

*       IDS/IPS

*       SIEMs

*       Data Loss Prevention

*       Penetration Testing

*       Cyber Security Incident Response

 

Preferred experience in the Financial Services Industry.  Understanding of emerging trends, developments and current issues facing the UK retail financial services industry.
