Business Unit / Team: Technology Operations & Cyber Security (TOCS) – Cyber Cluster/Cyber Projects Team
Salary range: £38,000 - 45,000 DOE + red-hot benefits

Our Team
As a Cyber Projects Specialist, you will become part of the dynamic Cyber Projects Team within the Technology Operations & Cyber Security (TOCS) function. The Cyber landscape is constantly evolving, and with this so too are security threats and risks. You will have an important role in protecting the Bank and its customers working across a number of the Bank’s change initiatives and provide security advice and guidance to Business and Technical stakeholders. You will play a key role in ensuring that security controls are delivered inside Projects and change initiatives in line with business risk appetite.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Providing expert guidance to change initiatives regarding industry regulations, frameworks and best practice
  • Capturing evidence that security requirements and considerations are integrated into change solutions
  • Identifying and assessing security risks and making recommendations to further improve Virgin Money’s security posture
  • Defining the objectives, boundaries and focus areas of security tests to ensure change solutions don’t introduce any vulnerabilities into Virgin Money’s technical ecosystem
  • Ensuring that any risks or findings from security scans or tests are remediated prior to changes being promoted to production


We need you to have…

  • Experience of working in Cybersecurity risk/consultancy roles
  • A comprehensive understanding across a range of Information Security domains e.g. Identity & Access Management, Network Security, Cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure, Mobile & API security etc.
  • Experience of Cybersecurity frameworks e.g. NIST, OWASP Top10, CIS Benchmark, ISO27001
  • Experience of Cloud Computing
  • Experience of Risk Management - Carrying out Cyber Risk assessments, making recommendations to address control weaknesses and managing remediation activities
  • Experience of security assessments and testing - scoping the coverage of vulnerability scans, penetration tests etc.
  • Experience of Threat Modelling


It’s a bonus if you have but not essential…

  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft security products – Azure, Defender, Sentinel, Azure Information Protection, Intune
  • Information Security certifications e.g. CISM, CCSP, CRISC, CompTIA Security+
  • Active involvement in the Cyber Community e.g. participation in working groups, forums, facilitating knowledge share sessions etc.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting.
